For this week’s show, Joanna Gordon shares a poem in response to our open call for materials. Check out her poems below plus playlist curated by the author herself.
BIO: Joanna Gordon is a recent graduate of the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, receiving a degree in English this past May. She currently facilitates weekly writing workshops at ʻIolani schools, where she is a slam poetry coach for the upcoming Interscholastic Poetry Festival, sponsored by Pacific Tongues. She has performed across stages from Philadelphia to Maui, Hawaiʻi. When she is not writing, reading, or teaching her students, she enjoys a strong cup of coffee, jelly-filled donuts, and having a good silly laugh with friends.
- POEM: “Pipeline”
- SONG: “Have Mercy” | Eryn Allen Kane
I’m also super excited to share the self-care recommendations and playlist from the inspiring hui of activists, artists, and educators over at Ke Kaʻupu Hehi ʻAle. The blog post is called “Here for Each Other: A Play-List for Feelin’ Upful and Right,” and was originally published on June 9, 2015. Go to the full post to read the full list (and to enjoy the excellent YouTube playlist for self-care/uplifting music ❤ )
