This episode features the short story “Kipuka” by Spencer Yim Kealamakia and the music he’s chosen to go with his work.


Spencer Yim Kealamakia is a Honolulu-based writer and editor originally from Hilo. A graduate of the UH Manoa English Department and the MFA Writing Program at the University of North Carolina Greensboro. Spencer has published fiction in literary journals such as The Greensboro ReviewHawaiʻi Review, and Anderbo. He’s also written essays about #Hawaii history, people, and the arts for HAWAII Magazine, Honolulu Civil BeatHalekulani Living, Palm, and Hana Hou! Magazine. He’s currently working on several book projects, and since June 2018, he’s served as a co-organizer for MIA Honolulu. You can find him on Twitter and on Instagram @spenceryk
